There are several authenticated versions of this quote.
My version is from Wikipedia, which gives a biography by Darden Asbury Pyron, published in 2000 and entitled Liberace: An American Boy as the source. But this is not the original one. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations (Seventh edition, 2009), quotes Liberace from his 1973 autobiography: "When the reviews are bad I tell my staff that they can join me as I cry all the way to the bank." The Oxford Dictionary also notes that it was "originally reported" by Collier's (an American general interest magazine) in the form 'He begins to belabour the critics announcing that he doesn't mind what they say but that poor George [his brother] "cried all the way to the bank"'.
